About me

Private Dining Therese....I'm a blessed mother of 2 unique and intense, yet amazing children. I'm a girl who adores a good love storyI have been known to cry at many movies... and TV seriesI am a swede with a northern english accentI am very passionate about photography and my main clients are newborn, children and family portraits. I am a natural light and on location photgrapher who loves to capture the special moments between families at ease. I never get tired of capturing a family's love on "film" or hearing the laughs of children after they get done with a silly pose or the look I see in a client's face after handing over the prints. I do have a small studio set up at home for newborn sessions where I can capture your new little bundle of joy in a calm and serene environment. I hope that one day soon, I will be able to bring my love of pictures into your home and provide you with tiny, captured memories that will last a lifetime.....Therese Johnson

Why custom photography

2011 Rates Kit and Kin Photography by Therese Johnson offers portrait sessions at a local destination of your choice such as your home, garden, park, beach, urban setting or in my home studio.Please note: All my packages includes the final edited images, as per choosen session below, on a CD so no hidden charges! Mini Photo Session (45min to 1hour) family, children, engagement and maternity:- on location (within Muscat) - pre-session phone/e-mail consult - max. 5 subjects (5 OMR for each additional subject)- maximum 25 edited images shown in an online gallery- combination of color images and black and white- all edited images on a CD- 1 story boardOMR 75Photo Session (1 to 2 hours) family, children, engagement and maternity:- on location (within Muscat) - pre-session phone/e-mail consult - max. 5 subjects (5 OMR for each additional subject)- maximum 45 edited images shown in an online gallery- combination of color images and black and white- all edited images on a CD- 1 story boardOMR 95Newborn Photo session:Newborn sessions can last up to 4 hours and are for infants less than two weeks old. Newborn sessions are BEST at around five to ten days after birth. I prefer to do newborn sessions in my natural light studio in Muscat as you will have access to my complete set of newborn props and accessories, however I can also bring this to your own home if preferableNewborn Session Fee includes:- Pre-session phone/e-mail consult - Photographer’s time and talent as well as props and accessories - Custom editing of around 20 to 30 images- Online proofing gallery including color images and black and white - all edited images on a CD- 1 story board or desinged mini albumOMR 105Session Fees DOES NOT include prints or digital images. Please contact me for more information on prices for different prints, frames, photobooks, albums etc. I also offer gift vouchers, designs of the edited images in story boards, special occasion cards, mini albums and many other designs required. For other special events, gatherings or corporate sessions please contact me directly for more information. **All digital images include a print release assigned to the client. Kit and Kin Photography retains the rights to all images and does not sell unedited images. Images purchased may not be altered or edited in any shape or form.**

What to expect-wear During our session you can exoect a relaxed and fun atmosphere. I watn you to feel at ease and enjoy yourself during the session. With families and children you can expect both posed and cndid shots. I strive to capture spontaneous and natural expressions and emotion, so the more fun and playful the better. Please expect to take breaks if infants and small children are involved. Infants often need breaks to nurse or feed and just get some love from mom and dad. Toddlers sometimes have meltdowns and don’t want to cooperate. That is okay! This is expected with children of this age and this is the norm with sessions with small children. I know, I have two myself!With small children it is a good idea to bring their favorite snack and/or toy(s) if we’re meeting at an outdoor location. Sometimes the best shots are of your child being natural and playing with mom, dad or siblings. They also come in handy if your toddler has a meltdown and just needs a break to play and let the mood pass.With newborns you might want to have a change of clothing as it is almost impossible to avoid accidents such as spit up or getting wet with a naked baby. So, don’t worry, this too is expected and I will have several blankets on hand for infant sessions to swap in/out. Make sure to bring the wet wipes and diapers. Newborn sessions typically last three hours, so please plan accordingly. The studio is kept very warm to keep baby nice and warm while in their birthday suit. If parents and/or siblings would like to participate in the newborn session, we will get those photos taken care of first, so please let me know if you plan on participating.Here are a few suggestions for what to wear/bring for your session…(I will also have my collection of fun hats, tutus and newborn props on hand)Newborns-nude is best-fun hats-a simple onesy if you have a favorite-For mom, a simple black or white tank, short-sleeved shirt or tube top is perfect. Simple is best, avoid patterns.-For dad, a black or white t-shirt. For those dads that are comfortable bearing their chest please do because these can make for some of the most precious images with father and child.Maternity-denim jeans (maternity jeans or an old pair that you can button down or unzip for photos)-basic tank top-flirty sun dress-white button down blouse-just remember, simple goes a long way-blocks that spell baby’s name-sonogram photos(s)-baby shoes-special items you would like to be photographed withFamilies and Children-accessories, such as headbands, scarves, jewelry, jackets and hats can really add to your look-avoid all white or all black color combos-Avoid matching outifts, but rather try to find outfits that compliment each other-Avoid clothing with logos and busy patterns that will distract-Color! Splashes of color really make your photos pop!-denim-dress up shirts-striped or patterned stockings/tights-fun, flirty dress-tutus-props – if you have fun props, such as antique family items or items with special meaning you’d like included, please feel free to bring themAfter the session I love spending time with your photos during my editing process. Each and every image that is shot is carefully edited. I take into consideration the presonalites, the feel of the photo, as well as any requests you may have. All images are avaiable in B/W and colour.

Why custom photography Rather than write up something new when there has already been several articles on why Custom Photography is best, I will share with you an article from The Professional Child Photographer: The Consumer Guide for Custom Photography. Custom Photography as something “special”Custom photography is more of a luxury than your entry level cookie cutter chain experience. Custom photography truly is not for everyone, it requires a level of commitment, investment in time and money, forethought and planning on the part of the subject/client and requires a larger time commitment for the photographer as well.Clients who enjoy taking a more active role in the creation of their families’ memories have the desire to have portrait art that is truly personalized. These more discerning clients have been known to budget and allot time for a custom photography session. Many clients opt for it to be a once a year special experience, some opt to have custom photography sessions done to record their child’s stages in life. Having said this, it is clear that custom photography is not in everyone’s budget, it is something that most families save for to splurge on from time to time to memorialize their children as they really are (not posed and primped in the cookie cutter studio setting).There is a great deal of time involved in creating high end custom photography sessions for a client. The luxury of great service, better choices and a supberb end product. The result of all this are heirloom quality images. The time invested at the session is only a small portion of time involved in this process.Custom photography has been likened to purchasing a fine vehicle. To get to point B from A let’s face it, even a bus ride would suffice. If you want to luxuriate in a finely appointed vehicle, customizing your own experience by listening to smooth jazz while sitting in a climate controlled setting adjusted purely for your comfort in a body hugging leather interior, perhaps that Lexus you so desire is your cup of tea. Custom photography is much the same cup of tea. It is the Lexus of the photography world. It is where the intangibles make the experience truly wonderful and the images themselves make the investment of money and time truly worthwhile.Custom photography can be broken down into even more levels. There are on location, studio, mixed studio/on location, specialty location and destination type photographers. The beauty of custom photography is in the choices and in the luxury of thoses options. The customized service level you are sure to experience will be amazing. The knowledge that your final images are the result of someone caring about those moments so much that they take extra time ensuring that the artwork you receive is good enough to stand by with their name on it. That level of quality and commitment is all but lost in the age of “mass produced,” “mass marketed,” corporate “everyone is a number”. Custom photography is based on being unique to you. How great an experience would be, to be able to sit back and allow a photographer to do this highly custom work for images that you will most likely cherish for a lifetime?Keep in mind more than anything that the Lexus will never appreciate in value the way your portraits will.
